Photographic walk in Monopoli
Today I'm taking you on a stroll through "my" Monopoly, the one revealed through the lens of my trusty camera. Not your typical postcard, but a photographic journey filled with unexpected discoveries and fresh perspectives.
My experience began as always, crossing the underpass leading to the Old Port. But this time, I looked at it with different eyes. The fresco of the Madonna della Madia that makes it so unique, with its Byzantine features that seem to come from another era, captivated me. It's not just a painting: it's a silent guardian that welcomes you to this corner of Puglia, making you feel immediately at home, but with a touch of magic and history. I tried to capture its essence, that feeling of protection and ancient beauty it exudes. The same, perhaps more solemn, feeling you get standing before the cathedral basilica... imposing and luminous, it too, dedicated to Santa Maria della Madia, is home to a painting of great historical and cultural value, dating back to the 11th/12th century.
Then it was time to change perspective, literally. I looked for higher vantage points, driven by the curiosity to see Monopoli as I'd never seen it before. I wanted something new, something my lens had never captured. And I must say, the experience was incredible.
Seeing the tiny boats in the harbor, the whitewashed houses of the historic center, and the intense blue of the sea merging with the sky on the horizon... it was breathtaking. Every shot from above was a small victory for me, a piece of Monopoli revealed in a new light. I looked for plays of light and shadow, lines and shapes that I would never have noticed from the ground. It's as if the city had gifted me its little secrets, visible only to those with the crazy idea of looking at things from a different perspective.
It wasn't just a photographic stroll, but an emotional immersion. Every click was a thrill, a discovery. The sunlight caressing the ancient stones, the salty scent mingling with the air, the distant sound of the waves... everything contributed to making the experience unforgettable. It was a silent dialogue between me, my camera, and Monopoli, made of glances, stolen moments, and so much wonder.
